Job Summary
The Opening Legal Assistant is responsible for managing all aspects of case initiation across the firm. This role processes, reviews, and requests all necessary supporting documents at the start of each case to ensure accuracy and completeness.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepare and send letters of representation to all applicable parties, including Defendants, insurers, prior attorneys, and health insurance providers.
  • Confirm client initiation of medical treatment for reported injuries.
  • Request supporting records and bills from all relevant providers, including hospitals, fire rescue, treating medical facilities, and specialists.
  • Establish claims with all applicable insurance carriers, including liability and PIP.
  • Communicate case updates to the assigned Attorney and Legal Assistant during the Opening process.
  • Review and process case-related correspondence in the firm’s paperless system.
  • Research and identify all potential Defendants and available insurance coverage.
  • Be the backup to the Front Desk.
  • Additional administrative duties assigned as needed.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, attorneys, and third parties.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to and work with firm-specific software as well as other necessary computer programs.
  • Prior office or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) – preferred but not required.
